As a passionate International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, I understand that the best way for my clients to have a successful feeding journey is to be educated early on. During pregnancy your doctor will ask you, “Will you be breastfeeding your baby?” But what will your answer be?

I know mine was “of course I will.” And I was naive enough at the time to think I would do it for the recommended amount of time no matter what. This mind set can be great. But for me it was only just “helpful” because I knew I would do anything to make breastfeeding work, but that also put me at a disadvantage because my journey (like most) did not start off well. It was difficult, painful and scary and the only person I knew to turn to was my baby’s pediatrician who was not a lactation consultant.

I was immediately instructed to supplement my baby with formula. So I did, but that led me into postpartum depression thinking that I was already a failure as a mother on day 3. This is not the mind set I want my clients to be in as soon as they get home.

So I am here to help you learn all you can about lactation before your baby is born and know you have a professional in your corner when baby arrives to help both you and your baby put forth your best efforts together!
